During the fall semester of 2013, students in ENGL 3340 Mythology at Lamar University completed semester-long team research projects on cultural myth systems. The project ensures some familiarity with the variety of world myth, helping students gain a comparative perspective. Each team was responsible for determining the key features of their myth system, dividing labor fairly, conducting research, and creating an interactive multi-media demonstration for use in teaching the public. Following the public showcase students take an exam in which they generate comparative arguments about the themes and figures presented by their peers. Whereas in previous semesters students had presented their research in online formats, this semester students presented their research at a public showcase on November 19, 2013. The following short video, created by student volunteers, documents the event along with student and faculty reactions.
